A FL Division 1 – O’Mahonys edge closer to final spot.

Navan O’Mahonys inched closer to an A FL Division 1 final place with an easy win over below-strength Duleek-Bellewstown on Wednesday night.

O’Mahonys led by 0-8 to 0-2 at the break. Within six minutes of the restart Duleek-Bellewstown’s John Flood had cut the gap to five points.

David Nelson’s charges responded with 1-11 in a 19-minute spell before the visitors tagged on two points near the end.

By then ten different players (including three subs) were on the scoresheet for O’Mahonys. The only goal came courtesy of David Bray at the Brews Hill end in the 42nd minute.

Bray’s attempt for a second goal shortly after was saved by Duleek-Bellewstown ‘keeper Gordon Hynes at the expense of a 45 which Jake Regan pointed.

Early points from Brian Dillon and Bray gave O’Mahonys a lead they maintained to the end. Five players had pointed for the home side before Stephen Nolan opened the Duleek-Bellewstown account in the 19th minute.

Shane Gillespie posted O’Mahonys final score of the opening half. Kieron Collins and John Flood registered for the visitors either side of the interval before the home side kicked-on.
