The first half of this second round Junior B Championship match was keenly contested with O’Mahony’s opening the scoring with two frees. Dunderry responded with two frees and two points from play to go ahead. A sloppy goal against the run of play left Dunderry in the driving seat 1-05 to six points ahead at the break. Interestingly, seven out of the twelve scores in the first half were from frees.
O’Mahony’s went forward in the second half to reduce the half-time deficit. Crucially, they got turned over or took the wrong option on many several occasions. Ten minutes into the second half, the Navan side found themselves 2-08 to 8 points down, leaving them facing an uphill battle which they failed t overcome.
