Mary O’Reilly-Staunton died from non-Hodgkin Lymphoma at the relatively young age of 56. Her lifetime was spent in the field of education, initially as a secondary school teacher and later as an Occupational Therapist, working with adults who were experiencing various degrees of intellectual, emotional, psychological and physical disabilities. Mary’s family is honoured and privileged to have established, in conjunction with Navan O’Mahony’s C.L.G., the Mary O’Reilly-Staunton/Navan O’Mahony’s Trust foundation. The foundation awards, annually, with the aim to support the third level studies of innovative individuals at a recognised third level institution within the Republic of Ireland. Each bursary is for the duration of just one academic year, but successful candidates will not be disqualified from applying for subsequent bursaries.
Four bursaries of €1,000 each will be awarded.
Requirements:
- The Scheme is open to all Navan O’Mahonys players – male and female – who are currently attending a recognised third level institution or completing a registered apprenticeship in the Republic of Ireland. Applicants must have played an aggregate of at least five championship matches over the last two seasons for O’Mahony’s.
- Applicants should state what other funding they are receiving for their course.
- Name and contacts of two suitable referees must be provided
- Applicants are requested to provide a brief personal statement on their interest and commitment to their area of study and the reason why you have selected your current course.
Assessment process:
- All applicants will be assessed by a review panel that will shortlist suitable candidates for interviews by members of the assessment panel.
