NYPD Successful Day
By Club
June-17-2013
The NYPD under 10 football blitz certainly lived up to its high reputation on Saturday the 25th of May at O’Mahonys, with eight teams participating and some very fine football on view.
St. Colmcilles won the much sought after John Joe McCabe Cup after a very entertaining game against Bailieboro Shamrocks, Cavan on a scoreline of 13 scores to 7. There was little between the sides who served up some delightful football .Baileiboro missed some scoring opportunities before St. Colmcilles pulled away in the closing stages to take the Cup.
Trim accounted for neighbours Dunderry by 13 scores to 5 to take the Paddy O’ Brien Cup.
Moorefield, Kildare proved too strong for hosts, Navan O Mahonys in their final. O’ Mahonys defeated Bailieboro Shamrocks in an earlier game.
The Downs, Westmeath accounted for Ratoath in their final.
After the finals all the participating teams were presented with their medals by members of the NYPD committee and Navan Forum, Inspector Martin Smethers, Pat Gannon and Mary Ann Mc Cabe, while Paddy’s wife, Mairead, presented the Paddy O’ Brien Cup.
