Under 14 FL Division 2 final: Narrow loss for O’Mahonys

Navan O’Mahonys fell narrowly to Trim in an exciting Under 14 FL Division 2 final at Pairc Tailteann on Wednesday.

O’Mahonys ……. 1-7

O’Mahonys fell behind to Mark Dempsey’s fourth minute goal but battled back to parity twice before half-time. Goalkeeper Niall Devlin did his bit by denying Trim a second goal before the break.

A fine move, rounded off by Evan Brady placing Cian King for the point that levelled matters for the second and final time (0-4 to 1-1), in the 19th minute.

Trim tagged on two points before the break to lead by 1-3 to 0-4. O’Mahonys might have been closer but for eight wides in the opening 25 minute. During this time Trim had two.

Trim kicked-on from the restart with Gary Keating pointing. There were just two points in it before Mark Dempsey goaled with Keating prominent in the build-up.
